Mindfulness Instruction

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness is a sense of awareness associated with Buddhist practices. Mindfulness is the true experience of the current moment, devoid of judgement. We are not our feelings. We are consciously separated from them through choice. You can acknowledge sadness but not have to “be sad”. You can acknowledge anxiety but not “be anxious.”

Begin learning how our bodies and mind react to the present moment. Take back your mind. Be present with loved ones.

Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.

Try it!

Get in a comfortable position, laying down is optimal. Relax your entire body. Relax every muscle you can control, from your toes to your eye brows.

Take a deep breath in. Fill up your lungs. Short pause. A pause that lasts no longer than it would take you to say the word “one”. Then slowly exhale as if you were blowing on hot soup.

Pay attention to how tension arises in your body. Where does your anxiety want to show itself? Recognize the tension and relax the muscle or muscle group. Keep breathing.

Acknowledge all the noise in your head. All the anxiety, sadness, shame, guilt, anger, all of it, send it love. Keep breathing.
